Hammering Kirsch

Langdon Hammer reviewed Adam Kirsch's The Modern Element: Essays on Contemporary Poetry (Norton, 2008) and his voume of poetry Invasions (2008) in the New York Times (August 29, 2008) republished in the International Herald Tribune (September 4, 2008).

Hammer suggests that Kirsch's view of the pun is what "explains his impatience with Geoffrey Hill, James Merrill and Jorie Graham..."
